Before starting your search for a good, reliable used cars, you should start by asking yourself a few questions. How will you use the vehicle, for long road trips, hauling heavy items or just quick trips around town? What are the features you can’t live without? Does the auto have to have air conditioning or is that optional? You have to decide what are must-haves and what are just extras.

Last, you have to decide how much you can afford to spend. A used car may seems like a good deal, but will the finance rate be more than you can handle? If you have poor credit, you will be paying a high finance rate. Also factor in maintenance costs and insurance. Different vehicles have different insurance rates.

Ask all your friends and family what cars they owned and how they liked them. Be sure to get the good and bad points. Everyone will give you advice so specifically ask for the good and bad points of each model, not for opinions as to what you should buy.

Last, check online for car reviews. If the automobile is not that old, you should be able to find reviews of it’s performance and maintenance needs and costs. Research is your friend. The more research you do, the more likely you are to be pleased with your purchase.
